STL Turns 250: But Where Is The Cake?

STLSkylineWideAngle_zpsff7f2e4d

In honor of St. Louis’ 250th birthday year, stl250 is celebrating the most iconic locations in the area with “Cakeway to the West.” That’s right, folks. CAKE! Unfortunately this isn’t the kind you eat…or at least we don’t suggest it.

“Cakeway to the West” will place 250 fiberglass birthday cakes at notable spots throughout the 15-county St. Louis region, but they need your help to decide where!

Lend them your insider knowledge and VOTE for which spots you believe are quintessentially St. Louis.

You can choose from the 300 pre-selected locations or write in your own! Once a location receives 25 write-ins, it will be added to the main list. Cake contenders fall into 5 categories — Landmark Sites, Heritage & Culture, The Great Outdoors, Local Favorites & Innovation. Picking just one would be brutal. Thankfully, you can submit one vote for each category.

The 50 locations with the most votes from the public will receive cakes and stl250 will handle the rest.

Voting is open through January 3rd and the Top 50 will be announced on January 5th. In the mean time, submit your votes and track your favorites on the Cake Leaderboard page.

  1. I vote for the one at the arch……because? The arch was our FIRST symbol of
the Gateway to the west that I know about????

This cakeway to the west is a terrific idea.
